revised job description.

The Halifax Initiative, a Canadian Coalition for global Economic
Democracy, is seeking a Coordinator.  This position, located in Ottawa,
is a key strategic resource to the coalition and will work in tandem
with another co-ordinator, based in Vancouver.

The Halifax Initiative, is a coalition of Canadian development, faith
and environmental organizations, whose mandate is to monitor the
policies and practices of the International Financial Institutions and
advocate for their reform in the pursuit of social justice,
environmental sustainability and strengthening civil societies.  This
is done primarily, in collaboration with international NGOs, through
advocacy and public education activities regarding the IMF, World Bank
and IFIs and through education and advocacy across Canada regarding
Canadian Government policy.

Position summary:  reporting to the Management Committee, and under the
general direction of the Coalition, the incumbent is responsible for
the overall support for the coalition,  including logistics and
preparation, support to planning, budgeting and monitoring, research,
policy analysis and coordination of activities/projects as assigned.

Summary of Qualifications:  must be well-organized with exceptional
communication skills, notably in media and government relations;
knowledge of Canadian government and global economic and/or
environmental policy issues; ability to work well under pressure
independently and as part of a team; bilingualism a strong asset.

Terms and conditions: this is a contract position based on a 4 day work
week with a salary of $29,000 (including GST) plus benefits.
