--------------------------------------------------- If you are concerned about Metro Halifax's natural legacy, here is a great chance to learn about and influence what's happening and to share your ideas. --------------------------------------------------- Parks Vision '98: The Future of Metro Halifax's Green and Blue Natural Areas Saturday, April 25 -Sunday April 26, 1998 NS Institute of Technology, Leeds St., Halifax Metro Halifax has a great heritage of parks, lakes, waterways, and coastal areas, in part due to the MAPC public consultation and planning process of 20 years ago. Our city has grown beyond the limits of that plan and it is time for a new vision for our natural areas. Day 1 of the conference will work towards a better understanding of the state of our parks and of their value. Various government agencies and non governmental organizations will report on their programs and activities, while other presentations will address ecological, environmental, tourism, economic, recreational, and educational prespectives. Day 2 will consist of small group workshops where participants will define expectations for the future of our natural areas, and will develop strategies for getting there. The full conference schedule may be viewed at: http://chebucto.ns.ca/Environment/CPAWS/conf.html Costs: $10 individual/volunteer $25 professional/institutional (for those covered by employers) Lunches (sandwiches and squares) may be reserved in advance (by Wednesday April 22) for $8/day, or you may bring your own.
