Hello folks, In about a month or so I'll be leaving my position as listowner/administrator of sust-mar. This means we should find another person to fill the position and hopefully we can do this while I'm still around to make the transition easier. The listowner is your human interface to the piece of software that runs the list. The human is needed because the software is pretty dumb and thus sometimes it needs help to figure out what the subscribers are trying to say. The work is minimal most of the time and doesn't require a lot of technical expertise, although it would be useful to get somebody that understands how mailing list works in general. I'll spend some time with the new listowner explaining how things are setup and how to manage the list. Bonus points if you know what's majordomo is and triple bonus points if you ever administered a majordomo list. If you are interested in the position, please send your name to the list with a brief bio and any information that you feel it's relevant. Personally, I would be interested on your ideas on free-speach, flame-wars and unsubscribing annoying people. We can have more than one person as listowner, which is a more stable arrangement but I would suggest that 2-3 admins should be the cap. If we get more than 2 people I'll setup a voting mechanisms of some sort. I also would like to say that sust-mar belongs to you, the subscribers. You decide how things should be run and the listowner (despite the name) is here just to keep the list working and carry any policy decision you make. So it's important that you participate in the process, if you thing somebody is not a good choice for the list, speak up. Nominations will be received until April 1st (no comments on the symbolism) You can email me with any questions you might have. cheers Carlos - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ants work because they don't know how to sing.
