As the former list-owner of editors I can tell you that the restrict-post option intercepted an *enormous* amount of spam directed at this list, often several (3-6) per day. It would be a collosal pain-in-the-#$% if these were redistributed on a daily basis to all the subscribers of editors, especially given that the legitimate traffic on this list is usually much less than this.
