Hi everyone,

I recently came across an interesting profile on motivations for giving and
volunteering which I'd like to share with you re. below.

No doubt you all have various personal and professional reasons as to why
you've decided to commit your skill and time to serving the needs of
Chebucto Community Net. Whatever those reasons might be, it is because of
your interest and commitment that Chebucto can continue to serve its
members, as well as the wider community.

In our efforts to attract more volunteers and members to grow this
wonderful organization, this list below is an important reminder as to why
someone might wish to get involved with Chebucto.

When an opportunity arises for you to speak to someone about volunteering
at Chebucto, I hope these motivating indicators may be helpful.

Top motivations for volunteering:

-To help a cause in which they personally believe in (96%)
-To use their skills and experiences (78%)
-They have been personally affected or know someone
who has been personally affected by the cause the organization
supports (67%)
-To explore their own strengths (54%)
-To fulfill religious obligations or beliefs (29%)
-Because their friend volunteers (25%)
-To improve their job opportunities (22%)

Most people between the ages of 15-34 (83%), were more likely
to volunteer to use their skills and experiences.

Over two-thirds of Canadians between the ages of 15-24 (68%)
were more likely to explore their own strengths.

More than half of Canadians between the ages of 15-24 (54%)
were more likely to volunteer to improve job opportunities.

Almost half of Canadians 55years of age and over were more
likely to volunteer to fulfill religions obligations.
