Index of Subjects Hi Jim... The version of Zmailer that is in the CSuite distribution does not include much in the way of anti-spam tools... the newer versions do... I'm not aware of any security issues associated with the included version. Our inclusion of zmailer is linked to some of the mailing list administration tools (an interface of sorts for majordomo). These go quite deep into CSuite, and we're in the process of re-doing this area. As example of the complex relationships... The IP (information provider) creation routines... are designed to create two mailing lists (one private - for comments on the web-page... etc; and one public - for communications with all interested parties.) Mailing list creation (and maintenance) normally requires root access and involves manipulation of the system mail aliases. The version of zmailer that is part of the distribution includes modifications that provide for separate mailing list aliases... ----- As I mentioned, we're in the early stages of reviewing these systems. On _our_ main system we've upgraded to a newer version of zmailer that provides the anti-spam tools we're looking for. Unfortunately that also means we've gone back to manually dealing with mailing lists. This may not be a good option for some sites... ----- A new version of majordomo is in the works... (no date that I know of) the new version deals differently with aliases and the implications of this have not been sorted out. ----- A central goal of CSuite is to allow volunteers ( who do not have technical/sys admin priveleges ) to undertake activities like activating information providers... if you have good technical resources (can manage the mailing lists manually)... and are committed to sendmail we should be able to provide some assistance to get the mailing list management tools adapted... we definitely want to move on that ourselves although for the moment we're not likely to move to sendmail.... It looked like such an easy queston eh... ;-) david potter On Tue, 10 Nov 1998, Jim Foltz wrote: > Hello, > > How does zmailers anti-spam and relaying features stack up against sendmail > (our current MTA)? > > -- > Jim Foltz <aa204@acorn.net> >
