This looks like something the IP committee could help out with. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2000 11:42:37 -0400 From: Havi Echenberg <havi@havidave.com> To: Office@chebucto.ns.ca Cc: "Samuel Muli (E-mail)" <smuli@chat.carleton.ca> Subject: Homelessness prevention database - help requested Hello! I'm directing the development of a national homelessness prevention strategy for Raising the Roof (http://www.raisingtheroof.org), a national charitable organization dedicated to finding solutions for Canada's homeless. One of our first tasks was to create a web-searchable database of existing programs and initiatives with homelessness prevention as one of its significant goals. One or more of the programs in our database are administered by your organization. Our current task is to verify the information in the database; all came from print references, from literature (brochures, etc) submitted to us, or from Internet references. As we hope to launch this database in late September or early October, we'd appreciate your verifying the information provided in our database. The record associated with your agency - health outreach for homeless men - can be found at http://www.raisingtheroof.org/display.php3?this=275§or=&subsector=&proje ct=. (If you need to receive the record information by fax, e-mail or "snail" mail, let us know, and we'll send it off to you.) An additional piece of information we'd like to add is "lessons learned". Since the intention of this database is to provide information about what has already been tried. If you would be willing to give us 20-30 words on what you've learned since you started, that would be a very significant and valuable contribution to others looking to the example you've provided. Also, we'll be following up with ten per cent or more of the records (programs) listed, to prepare one- or two-page case studies. If you're interested in having a case study created of your program, please let us know! We’d appreciate your response to the following questions: 1. Is the information listed in our database accurate? 2. If not, could you provide the corrections in email, or would you prefer to have us contact you by telephone to record the changes? 3. Can you provide a brief "lessons learned" addition? If so, again, would you like to be contacted by phone, rather than submitting it in writing? 4. Are you interested in being considered for one of our limited number of case studies? 5. Do you have or know of other programs that should be added? Thank you so much for your help! Please return replies to smuli@chat.carleton.ca. We look forward to working with you on this project, and hope you'll find the database useful for your own purposes.
