Guidelines needed...

We really need to establish new guideline with respect to the use of 
terms such as 'IP', 'Information Provider(s)', 'Neighbourhood Account(s)' 
and 'Website'.

IP's will remain

It is clear that over the forseeable future we will retain some use of the 
term IP and Information Providers... these terms are deeply embedded in 
our users minds and out CSuite software and represent a convenient set of 
labels for discussion (within CCN and with other sites) relating to the 
technical and functional issues associated with this type of accounts.

   
Neighbourhood Accounts

I'm prepared to assuming that there is some 'marketing' advantage to using 
the term Neighbourhood Accounts to describe the adjusted services previously 
referred to as IP Services/Accounts. It is however conceivable (likely?) 
that in the future CCN or other organizations might move on and adopt some 
other buzzword/terminology for these accounts. 

It is certainly not obvious (to me at least) that Neighbourhood Account 
communicates any more information than Information Provider and both 
probably fall short of the more widely accepted use of 'website' to describe 
these accounts/content.

However, ...as we transition to Neighbourhood Account what we need is a 
set of guidelines with respect to usage and a straegy for converting 
existing IP's and users to the new terminology.

In some instances such as the g(o)ip shortcut, we can simply 
amend (as I already have) the text to indicate:
 
Neighbourhood Account / Information Provider Services

..or some other agreeable terminology that will assist in the transition 
and meet the needs of all.

It would probably be best to adopt the use of 'website' in any situation 
that is workable to reduce the need to revise individual documents if/when 
another market buzzword comes along.
