Index of Subjects Hi everyone, I just wanted to send a note, especially to new board members who now will be receiving various missives from individuals expressing concerns about actions taken or processes implemented, particularily within the IP area. As I outlined in earlier messages, the process of Board approval for a new fee structure for IPs at Chebucto was approved in early winter. Here in the Office we quickly undertook an administrative process to implement the new fee structure and a way in which to establish IP accounts under this new structure, as well as notify Editors and monitor account status. As the Executive Director, I had thought that this was in my purview to undertake. This was also paralleling the initiative to redesign our Chebucto homepage and related information services that we had to provide in light of the new fee structure. In hindsight, although there were meetings held to discuss the new proposed IP fee structure, once approved by the Board the implementation process wasn't as consultative. This was evident at last Tueday's meeting where a number of Editors, IP and ccn-Tech people attended to discuss the matter and how the new process should be implemented. At the conclusion of that meeting (once again as outlined in an earlier message) a number of action steps were agreed upon to move this process forward in a more constructive fashion for all concerned. Another meeting is planned for May 23rd to review what has been done to date and the further assigned steps to be taken. I hope this captures succinctly what has unfolded thus far. I agree with an observation that Chris Majka made in an earlier note in that maybe the 'sky is not falling.' But from where I'm sitting, it never rains, but it pours :) So we shall all soldier onward. Cheers, Leo ___________________________ Leo J.
