Hi everyone, I'd like to direct you to a community portal site (see: http://win.uwaterloo.ca/scripts/lpsiis.dll/win/) for the City of Waterloo which looks interesting and uncluttered. My understanding is that this was developed in collaboration with Waterloo University's Computer Science School (with community net researcher, Paulo Alencar). It has no traffic indicator, but nevertheless it is worthy of some attention in terms of its simplicity. A number of community portals I've looked at are incredibly cluttered. I don't know how they've designed their search engine process either. This is something that I think Chebucto needs to begin thinking about, especially in light of the SmartCommunities 2nd stage proposal. We hope to have a community-based meeting soon to look at what would be entailed to design or reconfigure a search engine to suit our community information needs in the HRM. Cheers, Leo _________________________________ Leo J. Deveau, Executive Director, Chebucto Community Net c/o Room 125, Chase Building, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
