Hi, The TUCOWS Open Shared Registration Service is now apparently open - I got a page today (why??!!) and managed to track it back to an equivalent 1-800 number in Toronto. OpenSRS works as a broker with the the CRSNIC. Domain name retailers (e.g. us) set up a CGI interface or whatever, and sell domain names to our customers. TUCOWS takes US$26/two years. The OpenSRS protocol is open, and there are no obligations to do a certain amount of business or anything. So in theory, we could sign up and not never use it, and never pay a cent. I talked to Phil (1-800-798-1114 ext. 350) and he pointed me to the Service Access License Terms on the OpenSRS webpage: http://www.opensrs.org/server-license.shtml There's a PDF file there, apparently all we'd need to do is fill out pages 15&16 and fax them to (416) 239-8409. This is something I'd kind of like to look into. Is anyone else interested?
