Hi Bernie, During the IP Committee meeting last night we developed an idea that we'd like to pilot with the health organizations that you've been working with. I won't get into all the background and rationale for this proposal, but let me summarize as follows: Given that: 1. the CCN - IP relationship is dependent upon the individual chosen by the IP to develop and maintain their site 2. the various IP editor(s) will have very different levels of knowledge/experience and perceptions of the internet (and CCN) 3. CCN needs to develop ways to integrate new volunteers into our structure 4. the IP committee needs to develop an infrastructure that will support future "IP memberships" (thus improve CCN revenue opportunities) We propose that the IP committee recruit volunteers from the CCN membership to: 1. assist with the recruitment of IPs 2. develop and maintain a relationship between CCN and the IP 3. provide support to the IP's editor by: providing orientation to CCN; mentoring; and (if agreed upon by both the volunteer and IP) the volunteer could assist with the development and maintainance of the IP's web site. 4. liaise between the IP and the various CCN committees and administrators as required Some of the skills/knowledge/abilities we would look for in these volunteers include: 1. html knowledge and experience 2. good working knowledge of CCN, its structures, policies, etc. 3. good communication and interpersonal skills 4. commitment to CCN Bernie, what we propose is that the IP committee post (through the volunteer committee) a request for five (is this the right number?) volunteers. I would meet with each and assign them to work with one of the health organizations. I think it may be important for each volunteer to recieve support for their job from a number of people at CCN and I'll try to facilitate those connections as required.
