Potential solution:
Keep the same permissions on the home directories but change the
group ownership from http to zmailer.
I've tried this on my own home directory and it appears to work.
http can still get to your public_html, because it is set up
as a member of the zmailer group during install.
I think the place to change this stuff is lib/newacct-make for
ordinary accounts, and lib/mkcustom for custom username accounts.
