A mount point is the directory where a physical device is attached, for example, 
you could mount your cdrom at the directory "/cdrom".  This means that when the 
cdrom drive is mounted, you can access it through the /cdrom directory, but the 
rest of the time, /cdrom is just a normal, (if empty), directory.  I hope this 
clears it up a little, it isn't quite accurate, but it's close. :D*
