Here are the highlights of my evening: We have about 200k of space to work with on the floppy. This is more than I had expected and should be enough for the internationalized install program and the .mo file. I've extracted 175 strings from the install procedure which are likely to be displayed in a normal install. I don't think it will take long to markup the strings in the source files and generate the .po file. I tried using gettext on one string in the install program, put the .mo file on the floppy and made sure that the LANG was set appropriately. The string _WAS_ displayed in french when I booted using the disk (good).
