Index of Subjects These comments are based on what happens on CCN, not frugal, but I assume the latter are based on the former. On Sun, 16 Mar 1997, David J. I assume this invokes the cs-ls (or is it cs_ls) script, which was prepared by Andrew a while ago. The purpose of the script is to provide access to user accounts home and mail directories through Lynx, to do ls, df, etc. for those who need such things but do not have shell access. At this point those are the only functions included in that script, so the heading, although minimal, tells what it does. Note that it does not allow the user to view contents of any files, only directories. I think it might be appropriate to design a more general purpose script, to support appropriate privileged volunteers, but that probably should wait to "after 1.0" There is a corresponding script that gives access to host and traceroute, which is not totally functional. lynxcgi-bin/network Problems - The host function does not allow selection of type of records, or making the request of a specific nameserver. Ideally the first display could have the names of the nameservers made into live links to recall the script with two arguments - the script input variable, as before, followed by the NS hostname (i.e. it should generate, for example a link which would execute the command host -t any chebucto.ns.ca snoopy.ucis.dal.ca to get the particulars that snoopy knows about chebucto, and not just what happens to be in chebucto's cache.) - The traceroute executes to a blank screen until it reaches the hop limit, (which can take ten minutes) rather than displaying the results as it goes. Also there does not seem to be anyway to stop it, either with (preferred) or without displaying the results. So in answer to your original question, the bookmark to cs_ls probably should be renamed, but the other function should be there too.
