If you set up a tcpdump on packets going to / coming from www.hotmail.com port 80 while you log in and try to read mail from Lynx in another window, you might get a better idea. Actually the best way is to run Lynx like this: lynx 2>errout That'll make Lynx trace into a file called errout, just press CTRL+T to start tracing and log into hotmail. BTW I tried it with our copy of Lynx and it worked.
