I just got lq-text (the search engine) working and built the database. So
a little more is working fine.

Your inexperience is showing ;-)

Actually, it is one of the most popular services at Chebucto. I Thingk
users check it and if one of their friends are online, they pop off some
email, usually guaranteed to get a quick response.

And there have been many requests to extend it to include "who's on line"
other Community Nets. It is one of the new features David T. has
introduced. Unfortunately, I got a "500 Server error" when I tried it.
(on to some more debugging ;-)

We do have a bit of a problem with it, however. It will always report "No
modems in use" because it cannot (yet) detect the number of modems in use
on the Terminal Server in Windsor. The Terminal Server itself is not a
"csuite-user" so it does not count.

This problem also affects the Time Quota system (% of modems busy will
always be 0 or 100, depending on the connection status of the Terminal
Server) and System Statistics reports (go systat - network detection is
also failing). Dialup Usage statistics, which is supposed to be reporting
on the use of your modem/dialup lines, will also only report on the
connection status of the Terminal Server (the 'tty' specification in teh
configuration file was wrong, so whatever shows there now is really
bogus).
