QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
For the:
Halifax Computer Club
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

* HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN AROUND?

The Club has been in operation since 1984. It has been known as the MS-DOS Computer Club, The Halifax MS-DOS Computer Club, The Halifax Area Personal Computer Society, The Halifax Area Personal Computer Club and, most recently, The Halifax Computer Club. The initials HAPCC and HAPCS were are used interchangeable because much of our past is embedded in such places as the Chebucto Community Net. (For a more in depth history, look under our "History" area, off the Main page.)

* HOW IS THE CLUB ORGANISED?

The structure is very loose. There is a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Website Master, Membership Co-ordinator, Meeting Room Co-ordinator and a number of other untitled but necessary contributors. All positions are filled by volunteers.

* HOW ARE THE MEETINGS SCHEDULED?

Monthly meetings have not been held due to Covid 19. We surmise that they will resume in the fall of 2022. To see previous meetings, visit "Past Meetings".

* WHO CAN ATTEND A MEETING?

We welcome everyone, from the first time computer user, with questions, to experienced computer users, such as programmers. It does not matter what Operating System you are using, as we support all, no matter how old or new.

* WHAT TAKES PLACE AT A MEETING?

The structure is typically as follows, but can vary:

  1. Club Business - This covers items within the Club such as upcoming events, speakers, topics, etc.

  2. Game of the month - These are games for everyone. They span from simple puzzle games to FPS (First Person Shooter). You can visit our "Current Presented Games" page to see screen captures and details of the games we presented thus far this year.

  3. Presentations - There can be one, two or even three talks per meeting, depending on the length of the item, covering a wide range of topics such as: These talks are done by either Club members or guest speakers. You can visit our "Current Meetings" page to see upcoming dates and topics. To see our past meetings, feel free to visit the "Past Meetings" section.

  4. Questions & Answers Period - At this point we open the floor to the Club members to ask any questions that they have and/or can think of regarding a problem they might be having with their computer and/or a program they are using.
