15 Aug and just completed a kayak from Nova Scotia Mainland to PEI. Fog
,some wind, rain and resonable waves. Definite on needing a compass for
this crossing as wind changed, land not seen for 2.5 hours due to heavy
fog.
All necessary equipement a must, for safety and piece of mind.
Crossed with two new Pictou County friends (come from aways) one 57 year
old male (ken) and 30 year old female (Angela), both very tough and
excellent paddlers. Four hours almost to the second from Caribou to Wood
Island ferry terminals...very easy to get turned around out there(
believe in your compass). Bernie Levy and I will do a canoe crossing
next year and we will have to leave at about 4 am in July sometime.
Today we left the wharf at 7 am/ August is not always a good month to
cross but the weather report was favourable in that the water would not
be too choppy so we made the decision to go yesterday at noon although
we have been talking about it for 3 weeks and looking for the right kind
of day.
This has kind of been the completion of a life long goal and it
is funny because years ago I was afraid to do it in a resonable sized
power boat or sail boat and today voila a kayak
