GS Compression & Conversion Software
- GSCII+ (by Derek Taubert)
- This is a New Desk Accessory that, when accessed, will allow you to
decode anything downloaded from CCN and the Internet.
This will work for GS and non-GS files. A 16 bit version of BinSCII, this
program runs on GS/OS and ProDOS 16.
- DESCII v1.0.2 (by David Empson)
- This is a command line utility for the ORCA shell (GNO) to extract
from BinSCII archives faster than BinSCII. Works on GS and non-GS files.
This program runs on GS/OS and ProDOS 16 while using the ORCA/GNO
environment and you don't need to revert back to ProDOS 8 as with BinSCII.
- Compress GS
- A shell program to do unix compress and uncompress. Use 'GSCII+' to
decode. Use 'ShrinkIt GS' to expand. Runs on GS/OS under ProDOS 16.
Creates an executable file with documentation.
- ShrinkIt GS (GShk)
- The compression and decompression utility that allows GS users to
access shrunken & packed files on CCN and the Internet. Works
with 8 and 16 bit files. Use 'GSCII+' to decode. Runs on GS/OS and ProDOS
16. Install in its own folder. Read the provided text file with any Apple
word processor to learn how to use this program.
- GS UnZip V7.0
- Extracts zip archives. Creates an executable file. Use 'GSCII+' to
decode. Use 'ShrinkIt GS' to expand. Runs on GS/OS under ProDOS 16.
- UU-Encode/Decode GS
- UU-encoder and decoder for the GS. May work better for some things
than GSCII+. Use 'GSCII+' to decode. May require 'ShrinkIT GS' to
expand. Runs on GS/OS under ProDOS 16. Creates an executable (EXE) file
and a text (TXT) file.
- Tar v2.01
- This is the Unix Tape ARchive utility for the GS. Creates an
executable file with documentation. Use 'GSCII+' to decode. Use
'ShrinkIt GS' to expand. Runs on GS/OS under ProDOS 16. Requires GNO.
- PMP UnZip GS v2.0 (by Paul Parkhurst)
- A program to unzip files downloaded from CCN or other archives. Use
'GSCII+' to decode. Use 'ShrinkIt GS' to expand. Documentation in the
form of TeachText included. Runs on GS/OS under ProDOS 16.

- UnZoo GS (Booz)
- This program extracts Zoo 2.10 files. Creates an executable file with
documentation. Use 'GSCII+' to decode. Use 'ShrinkIt GS' to expand.
Runs on GS/OS under ProDOS 16.
- A2 DES v1.1
- A (D)ata (E)ncryption (S)tandard for security when transferring
programs and text on CCN and the Internet. On-line documentation. Use
'GSCII+' to decode. Use 'ShrinkIt.GS' to expand. Runs under ProDOS 8.
- MacBinary GS v1.0.1
- A GS application to allow the decoding and encoding of MacBinary
files. MacBinary is the standard used on the Macintosh for the
preservation of file attributes when sending files via a modem. Use
'GSCII+' to decode. Use 'ShrinkIt.GS' to expand. Run on GS/OS under
ProDOS 16.
- CiderPress v3.0.1 (by Andy McFadden) (PC/Windows free/Open Source)
- A PC/Windows application to allow the access of many Apple II file
formats by a user with a PC. Download version 3.0.1 below or the latest
version directly from Faddensoft.
- DiskDup v2.9 (Macintosh)
- A Macintosh application to allow the creation of GS boot disks
on all Macs, even those with manual inject drives (drives that you
need to push the disk the full way in as opposed to the older
auto-inject drives that will suck in the disk once you have pushed
it about 3/4 of the way in). Even DiskCopy doesn't do that in the
latter released drives as the GS used auto-inject drives and DiskCopy
required the same type drive. Use a Mac unstuffing program to create the
executable.
- ProTYPE v1.1 (Macintosh) by Dirk Froehling
- A Macintosh application that allows users to create Apple II files
with the proper filetype. ProTYPE converts files you drag & drop on it to
make them more useable with Apple II computers. It will strip resource
forks from text files, type the files correctly and convert Binscii files.
It will also preserve file/aux types of all kinds of files inside a
Binscii wrapper. It is scriptable (understands AppleEvents) and can be
used as a helper application for Internet programs so you can tell
Netscape or Anarchie to postprocess all .bsq files with ProTYPE, for
example. Author has classified it as GSWare-ware meaning pay the
shareware fees on a GS product you're using and this product is free. Use
a Mac unstuffing program to create the executable.
