Report of the Secretary Annual
General Meeting, June 11, 2005 The first Annual General Meeting of the Nova
Scotia Chemists’ Society
(NSCS) was held on September 25, 2004 at the NRC Institute for Marine
Biosciences in Halifax. In
attendance were seventeen Chemists/Chemical Technologists, seven of
whom were
original members of the Society (prior to registration of the NSCS with
the
Registry of Joint Stocks on March 9, 2004). At
the AGM the following members were elected as Directors
and Officers
of the Society: Jim Frazee President Joyce Milley Vice-President Bill Thorpe Secretary Jocelyne Hellou
Treasurer The following
members were
elected as Directors-at-Large of the Society: Gordon Boyce John Courtneidge Susan Boyd Clive Elson During the past nine months, the Board of Directors has met six times, with attendance being consistently high at all of the meetings. I would like to thank Susan Boyd, Gordon Boyce and Clive Elson for taking the minutes in my absence. The Board has concentrated on recruitment of new members, and to help in this effort, we now have an informative brochure and a web site, which is in operation (http://nscs.chebucto.org/Main.htm). There are presently twenty-six paid-up members of the NSCS. Respectfully
