President’s Report

Annual General Meeting, June 11, 2005

     Over the past 9 months, the board of directors has been working hard on behalf of the Nova Scotia Chemists’ Society’s members. The Board has had seven sessions to plan promotional activities, membership recruitment, etc.

We have made membership our main focus. To achieve our goal of increasing the societies membership we have been working on the following activities.

-         We have prepared a brochure that explains the societies aims and objectives.

-         We have obtained a Post Office Box for receiving mail.  See above.

-         We have set up a website with the societies information on it.  i.e.  By-laws, History, Application form and contact information on it.  The address is  “nsca.chebucto.org”.

It is our aim to proceed with full legislative recognition of our society, which will make it the governing body for chemists in Nova Scotia.  This would include licensing powers.
