Questions and Answers

Does the name change from Chebucto FreeNet to Chebucto Community Net mean it now costs money to use it?

Absolutely not! The Chebucto Community Net's Vision and Guiding Principles have not changed. Access will continue to be free to all. However, the name change has not changed the fact that the Chebucto Community Net is not free to operate and we encourage users to support the Society by becoming members.

Who pays for long distance charges when I send an e-mail message to Calgary or Hong Kong? How does it work?

The computer that hosts Chebucto Community Net is connected to a world-wide network of computers. The Society that operates Chebucto Community Net pays for this connection from memberships and donations. This enables your e-mail to travel over the network to those computers in Calgary and Hong Kong.

Why are there no pictures on Chebucto?

Well, actually there are pictures on Chebucto! It's just that because you are using a connection with Chebucto that does not permit pictures you are unable to see them on your screen. If you would like to see the pictures you have several alternatives.
