Therefore a further period of consultation will allow supporters to add their names to the Divisional Planning Office in Dornoch. The aim is to replace this symbol of the brutal clearance and dispersal of the Gaels and to replace it with a suitable memorial to the victims of the Highland Clearances.
The "Book of Ben Bhraggie" Steering Group has opened a bank account to accept donations. The Book can take thousands of names of supporters. It will become an important record of national feeling. As a result of these actions, a major debate across she country has begun. The Planning Chair of the Highland Regional Council, for example, has dubbed the proposals "rubbish" so a prolonged battle will have to be joined to progress this scheme. You are invited to join the debate, sign the Book and contribute to the properly constituted "Book of Ben Bhraggie" account.
