Distinquished Conduct Medal Recipients -- Clan MacKay
The Military Medal
First World War
The Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) was awarded only to
non-commissioned officers and other ranks "For Distinguished
Conduct in the Field" and ranked only second in precedence to the
VC as a gallantry award. One thousand and eighty-four soldiers

its crimson and blue ribbon. Thirty-six of the men won it twice
(earning a bar on their ribbon) and one soldier won it a
remarkable three times. Eight of the overall total were MacKay
or
MacKie clansfolk. They were:
Acting-Cpl J. McKay, MM,
Canadian Infantry (gazetted 17 April 1918)
Acting/Bombardier G.A. McKay,
Ist Division Ambulance Column, Cdn Field Artillery, (gazetted 12 February 1919)
