The McEvers (of MacIvor)
Coat of Arms: Clan MacIvor
The McEvers
Research to date indicates that many spellings are used by descendants of
Clan Ivor/Iver or Clan MacIvor/MacIver as they emigrated throughout the
world. For example, one branch in the U.S. begins with Andrew McEver, who
bought land in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1737. His son John
fought in the American Revolution, had several sons, and eventually moved
to Georgia. There are many of his McEver descendants living in Georgia
today.
Chaplain Daniel McEver of the US Army, who is a descendant of this branch
of the family, has been at the forefront of research into Clan MacIvor
origins. In collaboration with members of the Gulf Shore (Cumberland
County, Nova Scotia) branch of the MacIvors, he generously shared the
following information with this website. While some of the information
must of course be subjected to further research, Chaplain McEver is
hopeful that inclusion of same on this website will generate additional
debate and discussion on these matters to assist in Clan MacIvor research.
