The rocks of Peggy's Cove have long borne plaques warning visitors about the danger of walking along the shore. Soon they will get a new marker, remembering the 229 who died last week over St. Margaret's Bay.
St. Margaret's Councillor Jack Mitchell told Halifax regional council yesterday he has been speaking with Swissair officials as well as members of victims' families about installing a small plaque, less than a square metre in size, to remember Flight 111.
Mitchell said he plans to meet with the Peggy's Cove commission about the memorial. Preston Coun. David Hendsbee had earlier suggested asking the Halifax foundation to raise money for a monument to the crash victims.
