On Saturday, October 18, 7pm, I will be hosting a potluck for new and old
Sierra Club members alike. Please bring your favorite dish, a plate, and
a fork. I have some dishes etc., but I likely won't have enough for
everyone. Invite someone you know who might be interested in joining. Be
ready to talk about the Sierra Club and eat! No scents please.

WANTED: ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS SCIENTISTS
The Canadian Environmental Defence Fund (CEDF) -- a non-profit
organisation that assists grass roots groups in the fight for
environmental justice -- is seeking biologists and other scientists
willing to volunteer their services for free or at reduced rates as part
of their Legal and Expert Assistance Programme (LEAP).
The CEDF maintains a database of lawyers, scientists and other
professionals. Interested applicants will be added to that database.
When an appropriate case arises, experts having the needed expertise and
living in geographic proximity are contacted and told about the case. If
agreeable to the expert, his/her name is forwarded to the group.
NB -- names of experts in the LEAP database are given to environmental
groups only if the group meets CEDF screening *and* if the expert consents
to that particular case. Having one's name in the database does not incur
obligation.
If you are interested in LEAP or know someone who might be, please contact
Paul Falvo at pfalvo@chebucto.ns.ca or Cynthia Chan at 416-323-9521 for an
application package.
For general info on CEDF check out http://www.web.net/~cedf/

From: Sierra Youth Coalition sierrayc@web.net
Sierra Youth Coalition is creating a Atlanitic zine. Articles should be
short (half a page) and then followed by what you can do to help. We are
especially looking for comics, drawings, jokes, quotes, etc. There will be
at least one article from all four provinces and it will be geared to be a
hands on guide to being an activist.
If you are interested in contributing stuff, in distributing zines, have a
place we could photocopy zines, have a potential funding source to produce
more zines (we could probably puy an add in for the funder), know a paper
source for reclaimed two sided paper, or just want to add a comment - get in
touch with the Sierra Youth Coalition. email sierrayc@web.net or phone 506
375 4310 (Amelia) or fax 506 375 4221 or write Amelia Clarke, Sierra Youth
Coalition, c/o Falls Brook Center, RR#1 Hartland, NB E0J 1N0
