I know there are American Elms in Smiley's Provincial Park.
I read Fredericton has American Elm along city streets.
The Elms planted in Halifax are mostly (all?) Ulmus glabra;
their leaves often have three tips, which are not present in
American Elm.

Was European White Elm, Ulmus laivis widely planted in towns, or are these likely the native Ulmus americana? It seems differentiating the species isn't straightforward. Whatever the species, they are putting out seed now. Are there any concerns or guidelines for propagating elms now, in the age of dutch elm disease?
