Dear All, In the context of overly abundant Eagles it is relevant to remember that a collection of bird's eggs, amassed over many decades ( centuries ?) at the London (UK) Museum, was the smoking gun that singled out DDT as the cause of their decline. A marked decrease in shell thickness coincided with the introduction of DDT and decline of Eagles (and other large birds if I am not mistaken). There is a general moral here. The future, by the very nature of things including nature, can never be entirely known in advance. Such being the case, a diversity of approaches is more likely to stand the test of the unforeseen than a narrow one; such as the 'look but don't touch' dogma. YT, DW, Kentville
