And a lovely</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">day it was. Great walking - no snow or ice and the trail fairly dry.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">I was alone - not anyone else in sight. But the Kelp Flies keep</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">me company as I sat on the bench down by the rocks.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Green Rock is looking great. I'm not sure if it is </span> <span style="font-size: 16px;">likens</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">or what makes the green carpet but its the only rock I know so </span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">carpeted with a green coat.It would deserve an interperative sign</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">but other things are not doubt more important. Without a boat it would be </span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">hard to see it close.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Two seals was all that I saw. One was a normal adult basking on a rock,</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Another was a baby seal playing around on another rock, A lively</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">little fellow bouncing around as best a seal can bounce. It was about a </span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">quarter of the length of an adult.  An off white coat - never saw a little</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">seal there before. There was 3 Cormorants along with a Black Backed</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Gull on another rock. They were enjoying the warm day.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Geese were few  only saw 15 but latter had reports of a large flock</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">in Mahone Bay - The open water has allowed them to start north.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Eel grass will be glad!</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sea Ducks were in good numbers. A mixed flock - anout 100 of Scoters\</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;"> and Buffleheads </span> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">were feeding of the Port Joli Wharf. -  the orange knob on some</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">of the bills pointed to Black Scoters. Along time since I've seen such a nice</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">flock of them. About 50 Eiders were feeding of the rocks at the harbour.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">As I sat on the bench and watched a little flock of Yellow Finchs - 5 or 6 - came</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">by - hot on their tail was a Marsh Hawk. Soon the finchs dived into a thick bunch</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">of bushes and the Hawk sat on a grass knoll. After a while the hawk took of up</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">over the meadow. It wasn't long til a flock of about 20 Grackles came from its</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">direction. They were nervous and kept wheeling around a few times. But never</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">close enough to be really sure what they were my guess was Cowbird but</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">there was room for error.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">A last bird before I left was a large sea bird. Flew high over head heading east - straight</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">out to sea. It was between a Gull and an eagle in size. Grey and white with an unusual</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">style of flying. It took very deep wing beats making it rock from side to side, Never</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">saw a bird fly that way before.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">A great day - only problem is going</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">back to the car! </span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Enjoy the last of winter.</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">paul</span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span> </div> </body></html>
