If you want to pa= rticipate and have not yet contacted me, now is the time. For anyone new to the count, there are two main ways of participating - as = a member of one of the field parties, or as a stationary (usually at a feed= ing station) observer. Both are important, as the objective is to get the = most accurate count possible of all birds in our count circle on that one d= ay. That means planning the coverage so that there is little or no overlap= ; persons with feeders not visible from the road are especially important, = as many birds concentrate in these areas. At least a half day's coverage i= s needed for a field party - preferably a full day - but as little as a hal= f-hour observing a feeder may provide important data. To get the instructi= ons and report forms to you. and make sure that the field party covering yo= ur area excludes your observation circle, I need to know who will observe b= y Dec. 15. If you know of any birds uncommon in winter in NS in our count circle, plea= se let me know about these ASAP also. Thanks and have a good Christmas, Wayne P. Neily Tremont, Kings Co., Nova Scotia If we care about the future, we make E.I.A.* part of every decision or plan= . - * =3D Environmental Impact Assessment (size appropriate to the significanc= e of the plan or action).
