Hi Nick,

Lots of Robinia pseudoacacia (black locust) trees in Windsor and
surrounding area that produce seeds reliably. Gleditsia triacanthos, honey
locust, does not. Honey locust are farrrr less common, and from what I've
seen are more or less planted individualy as ornamentals along sidewalks
etc. Not sure why they don't produce seeds here but my suspicion is it
isn't a cause of short growing season.

As to the arrival of Robinia, I'm not sure. Since it is such a useful plant
for homesteaders etc i wouldnt be surprised if they came with folks
migrating from New England.
