This is on Highway 7, immediately east of Holy Trinity Anglican Church.  The water's edge along the highway is shallow and dense with cattails. When Suzanne Borkowski and I come down to do my Nocturnal Owl Survey in April, we always stop at this lake.  It's often the place for some "first of the year" birds. </div> <div>   </div> <div> A sharp explosive SKYEOW made me turn to see a Green Heron.  It flew up and landed on the top of the dead stump of a drowned tree at the edge of the lake, not far from the side of the road.  This was about 50 meters away from me.  As it stood there alertly I noted its black crown, , dark back, and the rich chestnut brown on the side of face, neck and throat.  When I turned to get my camera from my car, it began to make a clucking call and flew down along a channel between the rushes, and so disappeared.  </div> <div>   </div> <div> I haven't posted on eBird in ages, but will do so later today. </div> <div>   </div> <div> Patricia L.
