I had posted earlier about the Loons who nested on a floating platform in early July on L Torment, E Dalhousie, Kings Co. I have heard that they lost their two eggs to an Eagle who was harassing them as they incubated. Not sure if it smashed the eggs or carried them off. The artificially bloated Eagle numbers in NS are the biggest threat to our Loons. There were none on this lake in the past. I have heard of them displacing Ospreys and Red-tailed Hawks from their nest sites as well. Don’t want to ruffle feathers but I think it is time to stop the winter feeding. Eagles are clever survivors and will do fine without it. Nancy D Sent from my iPad
