I took a photo early this morning to see what was feeding on the buddingTamarack needles (Forties, Lun Co). Turned out to be a Yellow-rumped Warbler, a bird of versatile food habits. But I had not previously seen any bird feeding on these. Maybe it was something associated with them rather than the developing needles themselves. Some shady dawn photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/150605880@N07/47789999381/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/150605880@N07/33913056598/in/dateposted-public/ A Northern Waterthrush at the same location singing its emphatic song was a first-of-year for me in this area. Also saw a photo of a DC Cormorant on inland L Torment, E Dalhousie, Kings, from yesterday. So not just a last Fall phenomenon at all but becoming regulars. Still surprising to me to find them here.
