Our WBL remains at 198 but there are a couple of changes. Dominic Cormier w=
rote me about the WBL count being 198 when the eBird count is only 196 for =
the same period and we were curious about the discrepancy as NS Bird Record=
s entries should keeping the counts in sync and I also often defer to eBird=
vetting on some of the rarer birds along checking with Dave Currie so our =
lists should match. Dominic discovered eBird was missing 2 species which ar=
e in eBird but were flagged as sensitive and therefor not counted in the eB=
ird report-Long-eared Owl and Gyrfalcon.

Dominic also discovered my spreadsheet was mistakenly counting Western Will=
et as a species. I have the Willet species indicated with an "X" but I also=
had the Western indicated with an "X" when it should have been a "P" so it=
ended up counting Willet twice. And he discovered I was missing an Indigo =
Bunting from December so we lost one and gained one to remain at 198.

Winter Bird List (WBL)

Depth of Winter List (DOWL)

We picked up another 6 species for the DOWL to bring us to 124.
Bonaparte's Gull - Kevin Lantz - Mason's Beach, Lunenburg County
White-crowned Sparrow - Dave Currie - continuing at Arthur St., Dartmouth o=
n Feb 2
Pine Warbler - Peter Oleskevich - continuing at his feeder in Port Williams=
(thanks to Nancy Dowd for tipping me about this one)
Red Crossbill - Steve McGrath - Catalone, Cape Breton Island
White-winged Crossbill - Steve McGrath - Catalone, Cape Breton Island
Pine Grosbeak - Billy Digout - French Cove, Richmond County, Cape Breton Is=
land

was going to be such a long list):
