Kevin Lantz Sent from Mail for Windows 10 From: Keith Lowe Sent: February 6, 2019 7:57 PM To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Subject: [NatureNS] Update to the Blake Maybank Winter Bird List (198, 118) We picked up another 5 species for the DOWL to bring us to 118. Winter Bird List (WBL) Depth of Winter List (DOWL) Here of some of the notables missing from the DOWL so far (I didn=E2=80=99t= know it was going to be such a long list): Tufted Duck Spruce Grouse Northern Gannet Double-crested Cormorant Great Blue Heron (last was Jan 18) American Coot (where are all the old coots this year) Killdeer Ruddy Turnstone Dunlin (just a matter of time but a surprising miss far) Dovekie (say what) Common Murre Bonaparte=E2=80=99s Gull Short-eared Owl Northern Saw-whet Owl (it is one the WBL from December but we don=E2=80=99t= have one yet this year) Black-backed Woodpecker=20 Northern Shrike Brown Thrasher Cedar Waxwing Orange-crowned Warbler (another on the WBL from December but nothing for th= e year yet) Pine Warbler Eastern Towhee White-crowned Sparrow Rusty Blackbird (another on the WBL but missing for the year so far) Pine Grosbeak Red Crossbill White-winged Crossbill (another one, clearly the forest dwellers are slacki= ng off.
