It is a subset of the WBL = where we track February birds and while we are not be getting hit with = the Polar Vortex as much as the interior of the continent, it is bad = enough and must be making life pretty miserable, if not shorter, for = many birds. =20 =20 Our DOWL average is 148 species. We finished January at 197 species = which is 4 less than last year but 3 more than the year prior. 197 was = also our total for the WBL in 2015. =20 eBird lags a bit so it will likely be a day or two before I get the = first DOWL update out but I see Ken MacAulay just posted he still has a = Red-bellied Woodpecker coming to his feeder so let=E2=80=99s crown it as = the first species on the DOWL. =20 =20 Winter Bird List (WBL) Dec 1 - Feb 29 Depth of Winter List (DOWL) Feb 1 - Feb 28 =20 For more info and history or to download the full spreadsheet , visit = our Winter Bird List page at the Nova Scotia Bird Society website. https://www.nsbirdsociety.ca/library/resources/the-birds-of-winter =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 ------=_NextPart_000_002C_01D4BA36.3F676CD0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <HTML xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40" xmlns:v =3D=20 "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns:o =3D=20 "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" xmlns:w =3D=20 "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" xmlns:m =3D=20 "http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml"><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dus-ascii" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 15 (filtered medium)"> <STYLE><!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {mso-style-priority:99; color:blue; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {mso-style-priority:99; color:#954F72; text-decoration:underline;} p.msonormal0, li.msonormal0, div.msonormal0 {mso-style-name:msonormal; mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0in; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0in; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;} p.xmsonormal, li.xmsonormal, div.xmsonormal {mso-style-name:x_msonormal; mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0in; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0in; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;} span.EmailStyle19 {mso-style-type:personal; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;} span.EmailStyle20 {mso-style-type:personal-reply; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; font-size:10.0pt;} @page WordSection1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY lang=3DEN-CA dir=3Dltr vLink=3D#954f72 link=3Dblue> <DIV dir=3Dltr> <DIV style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Calibri'; COLOR: #000000"> <DIV>Wilson=E2=80=99s Snipe, Cape Sable island plus Fox Sparrow and = Lincoln=E2=80=99s=20 Sparrow.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Calibri'; COLOR: = #000000">Mark=20 Dennis<BR><BR>Blog: https://capesablebirding.wordpress.com/<BR>My books = at:=20 https://www.smashwords.com/</DIV> <DIV=20 style=3D'FONT-SIZE: small; TEXT-DECORATION: none; FONT-FAMILY: = "Calibri"; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; COLOR: #000000; FONT-STYLE: normal; = DISPLAY: inline'> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt tahoma"> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"BACKGROUND: #f5f5f5"> <DIV style=3D"font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A = title=3DMythos25@live.com>Keith=20 Lowe</A> </DIV> <DIV><B>Sent:</B> Friday, February 1, 2019 1:17 PM</DIV> <DIV><B>To:</B> <A = title=3Dnaturens@chebucto.ns.ca>naturens@chebucto.ns.ca</A>=20 </DIV> <DIV><B>Subject:</B> [NatureNS] Update to the Blake Maybank Winter Bird = List=20 (197), the DOWL is on</DIV></DIV></DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV> <DIV=20 style=3D'FONT-SIZE: small; TEXT-DECORATION: none; FONT-FAMILY: = "Calibri"; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; COLOR: #000000; FONT-STYLE: normal; = DISPLAY: inline'> <DIV class=3DWordSection1> <P class=3DMsoNormal><SPAN style=3D"mso-fareast-language: en-us">The = Depth of Winter=20 List (DOWL) starts today.
