A female redwing was awaiting me on my return from town, later in the morning. From: naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca [mailto:naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca] On Behalf Of Keith Lowe Sent: December 8, 2018 6:14 PM To: NaturenNS Subject: [NatureNS] Update to the Blake Maybank Winter Bird List (160) We added 3 new species to bring us to 160. Glaucous Gull - Ken McKenna, Fred Mackenzie - Caribou and Monroes Island PP, Pictou County (Dec 1) Eastern Phoebe - Alix d'Entremont, Kathleen MacAulay - Sable River, Shelburne County (7 years in a row) Lark Sparrow - Les Rutherford, Pine Ridge Lane, Colchester County (continuing from mid November) The following are some of the core species we have yet to add to the WBL. Common Yellowthroat - We never miss this one but it remains a notable miss so far. The last one was spotted on Forest St, Yarmouth on Nov 26. Hermit Thrush - Probably our most surprising miss to date but they have made it on to the DOWL the last 18 out 20 years so just a matter of time. Killdeer - Our last one was Nov 18 on Cape Sable Island, Cape Sable. Ruddy Turnstone - Not seen since Nov 4 at Hartlen Point Wilson's Snipe - I'm sure one will turn up some time. Atlantic Puffin - A select few manage to get them on every WBL. American Woodcock - Just a matter of time Brown Thrasher - last one was seen in Digby County on Nov 26 In addition, we get Blue-winged Teal 9 times out of 10. The last ones were spotted at Kingsburg Beach, Nov 25. Winter Bird List (WBL) runs from Dec 1 - to Feb 29 Depth of Winter List (DOWL) runs from Feb 28 For more info and history or to download the full spreadsheet , visit our Winter Bird List page at the Nova Scotia Bird Society website. <https://www.nsbirdsociety.ca/library/resources/the-birds-of-winter> https://www.nsbirdsociety.ca/library/resources/the-birds-of-winter ------=_NextPart_000_0012_01D48F28.C6A939F0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" = xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" = xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns:m=3D"http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml" = xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">
<META = HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"><meta name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 14 = (filtered medium)">
<body lang=3DEN-CA link=3Dblue = vlink=3D"#954F72">

<span = style=3D'color:#1F497D'>This morning’s snow squalls brought us a = pair of common grackle down here on Wyman Road, south of Yarmouth. = A female redwing was awaiting me on my return from = town, later in the morning.
<p = class=3DMsoNormal><span = style=3D'color:#1F497D'>

<div = style=3D'border:none;border-top:solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0cm = 0cm 0cm'>
<span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>From:= <span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> = naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca [mailto:naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca] = On Behalf Of Keith Lowe
Sent: December 8, 2018 6:14 = PM
To: NaturenNS
Subject: [NatureNS] Update to the = Blake Maybank Winter Bird List (160)

<p = class=3DMsoNormal>

<span = lang=3DEN-US style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'>
<p = class=3DMsoNormal><span lang=3DEN-US style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'>We added = 3 new species to bring us to 160.
<p = class=3DMsoNormal><span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'>
<p = class=3DMsoNormal><span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'>Glaucous Gull<span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'> – Ken McKenna, Fred Mackenzie - <span = style=3D'color:#222222;background:white'>Caribou and Monroes Island PP, = Pictou County (Dec 1)
<p = class=3DMsoNormal><span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'>Eastern Phoebe<span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'> – Alix = d'Entremont, Kathleen MacAulay<span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'> – Sable River, Shelburne County (7 = years in a row)

<span = lang=3DEN-US style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'>Lark Sparrow<span =
