This is not my photo but we are wondering what this large reed(?) might be. It is in the Fort Lawrence sewage lagoons. The info I have is that there are only about four clumps, this being the largest and tallest. And it grows fast. Another photo I saw showed a warbler on a large diameter round stem. Probably common to other sewage lagoons and perhaps planted to aid water filtering. 

Thanks for your help- looking at the Flora of NS I am not finding anything similar but may be searching totally off-base.
