Last week, my wife brought in a dead, and somewhat damaged beetle that I
had never seen before. I knew it was a Scarab, but I couldn't find which
one. So I posted it on iNaturalist (
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/14450929), and it was determined
to be the Maculated Scarab (*Gnorimella maculosa*).

According to Chris Majka (
http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/Environment/NHR/Gnorimella_maculosa.html), one of
NS's beetle guys,

"(An) individual was found in the town of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia,
Canada on June 30, 2002 by Christopher Majka the ground near an open stand
of large trees (Red Oak, White Ash, and Sugar Maple). Its discovery in Nova
Scotia is a significant range extension (400+ kilometers) for the species."

On line records seem to be few for this easy-to-identify beetle, so I
thought I'd post it here so others can be aware of it.

Randy
