There were two Monarchs in the field next to the path to Miner's Marsh this=
afternoon. I assume they were males since they continually harassed each o=
ther, making it difficult for me to get a photo. I managed one, a very bad =
angle shot.
There is a lot of milkweed in this area, about half of it in bloom. Scores =
of Honey Bees were feeding, a few Sweat bees but no bumble bees. There has =
been a fair number of Queens, all I saw were of the Impatiens species. (Of=
course I may have been seeing the same Queen Bees more than once). I have =
saw only two worker bumble bees so not a good season for them. I hope oth=
ers have seen more in their areas?
An Olive-sided Flycatcher was singing and calling on our property yesterday=
in Coldbrook. Certainly the first for our yard list (if I kept one). One w=
as present on the RR bed 4-5 days ago which is about 1.5 km from us so perh=
aps the same one. Certainly not the right habitat for them in my experience=
.
