Our Tree Swallows have gone. We had to go to Lunenburg at noon on Sunday and
by the time we returned about 2:30, they had all gone. I think there were at
least three young. Momma had been holding her head back so the chicks would
reach out to get meals. It is disappointing that we didn't see lift off
again this year but we have other times and usually there will be a fly by
before they migrate.
It is much quieter without the feeders. Makes me want cold weather to
return.
We did keep the Hummingbird feeders up and they are busy for here.
Chipmunks and squirrels are plentiful. There were two baby raccoons playing
in the drive a few minutes ago. I didn't see momma anywhere about.

We did cut the KIWI down and do plan to rebuild the arbor as soon as we get
the shingles on and window in. What remains of the much strangled grapevine
is doing quite well now that it can breathe. Maybe I can salvage that. The
kiwi is undefeated, though. it is sending up shoots which are growing quite
rapidly. I was afraid I had killed it. I don't think I did. ha!
Best regards, Marg
