It has an Orange flag on the left leg and a silver band on the right leg. Also, I witnessed why the terns show up every year and nest on the little island by the marina - food, and lots of it! A couple of very heavily concentrated schools of *Atlantic Silversides* were in the channel and hugging the shore near the demo condo. While I watched, a small but very aggressive school of larger fish (species unknown to me) arrived to join the feast. The poor Silversides had no chance at all, being attacked from above and below at the same time. Some seemed to "beach" themselves on a rock to escape the predators! There was a pair of *Spotted Sandpipers* at Wright's Cove in Dartmouth on the 10th. At Russel Lake yesterday there were some very photogenic *Cedar Waxwings*, *Red-winged Blackbirds* and a pair of *Ring-necked Ducks*. Added some pictures of some of the above mentioned birds to my gallery at: https://scranlocker.smugmug.com/Nature/Nature-2018-A/n-ZwRWNt Pail Murray Dartmouth --00000000000068ef6d056e85e648 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr"><div class=3D"gmail_default">2018-06-13</div><div class=3D= "gmail_default"><br></div><div class=3D"gmail_default">Hi All,</div><div cl= ass=3D"gmail_default">=C2=A0</div><div class=3D"gmail_default">While photog= raphing the feeding <b>Common Terns</b> at Wright's Cover yesterday (12= th) I discovered a <b>tagged bird</b>.=C2=A0 It has an Orange flag on the l= eft leg and a silver band on the right leg. =C2=A0</div><div class=3D"gmail= _default"><br></div><div class=3D"gmail_default">Also, I witnessed why the = terns show up every year and nest on the little island by the marina - food= , and lots of it! =C2=A0 A couple of very heavily concentrated schools of <= b>Atlantic Silversides</b> were in the channel and hugging the shore near t= he demo condo.=C2=A0 While I watched, a small but very aggressive school of= larger fish (species unknown to me) arrived to join the feast.=C2=A0 The p= oor Silversides had no chance at all, being attacked from above and below a= t the same time.=C2=A0 Some seemed to "beach" themselves on a roc= k to escape the predators!</div><div class=3D"gmail_default"><br></div><div= class=3D"gmail_default">There was a pair of <b>Spotted Sandpipers</b> at W= right's Cove in Dartmouth on the 10th.</div><div class=3D"gmail_default= "><br></div><div class=3D"gmail_default">At Russel Lake yesterday there wer= e some very photogenic <b>Cedar Waxwings</b>, <b>Red-winged Blackbirds</b> = and a pair of <b>Ring-necked Ducks</b>.</div><div class=3D"gmail_default"><= br></div><div class=3D"gmail_default">Added some pictures of some of the ab= ove mentioned birds to my gallery at:</div><div class=3D"gmail_default"><br= ></div><div class=3D"gmail_default"><a href=3D"https://scranlocker.smugmug.= com/Nature/Nature-2018-A/n-ZwRWNt">https://scranlocker.smugmug.com/Nature/N= ature-2018-A/n-ZwRWNt</a><br></div><div class=3D"gmail_default"><br></div><= div class=3D"gmail_default">Pail Murray</div><div class=3D"gmail_default">D= artmouth</div></div> --00000000000068ef6d056e85e648--
