Dear All,
I have to date seen only one wild Bee in the yard and none=20
elsewhere. I suspect deep frost killed many ground dwellers but saw some=20
bee workings on a south facing sandy bank today; less than usual but=20
still numerous. How did they fare elsewhere ?
Also perhaps someone knows how they move soil to the surface. These=20
cones of soil are so delicately poised that the size is often about=20
halved if touched when dry. Presumably they are made when soil is wet=20
but I wonder how they manage to move soil to the surface.
