=93Dave Currie has significantly contributed to the Nova Scotia Bird Societ=
y (NSBS) for 37 years, coordinating field trips, writing large sections of =
the acclaimed magazine Nova Scotia Birds and much more besides. But as the =
President, over the past few years, Dave has inspired and led the NSBS to g=
row and become a vibrant outward-looking organization, connecting people in=
our community and beyond with the joys of birding and conservation. Throug=
h his diplomacy and love of birding, he has steered the organization to ach=
ieve remarkable changes including ensuring that 5 properties in Nova Scotia=
will be kept wild and protected forever. He has personally welcomed almost=
every new member of the organization and many people credit Dave with bein=
g the one who inspired them to become involved. He gives endlessly of his t=
ime and talent. Many hundreds, if not thousands, of people inside and outsi=
de the NSBS know Dave and have been impressed by his full-time commitment t=
o making a difference.=94

of the Nova Scotia Bird Society submitted David Currie, who most of know is=
the current president of Nova Scotia Bird Society, to the 2018
</span><span style=3D"font-size:12.0pt">Halifax Regional Municipality Volun=
teer Awards and we are very pleased David Currie was selected as an award r=
ecipient. This automatically entered Dave into the Provincial Volunteer Awa=
rds as well and once again Dave was
selected an as award recipient.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=3D"MsoNormal"><span style=3D"font-size:12.0pt">These awards are ve=
ry well earned, Dave is a truly tireless volunteer and someone of great int=
egrity who just doesn=92t stop looking for ways to improve the bird society=
and to improve the conditions for birds
