Not something one sees in early April in NS!<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">They were quite large as Caddis flies go and sort of a mottled color.<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">With the help of a Park naturalist it appears they are Dot-winged Sedge.<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">of the Family Limnephilidea Family Frenesia species not identified.<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">They are a long lived as Caddis flies go - they hatch in November and<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">some over winter. They have been reported before in similar streams in the area.<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Needless to say there are not many observers out looking for Caddis flies or<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">any other flies in Nov! so are probably more common than realized.<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Enjoy the spring<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Paul<br/></span> </div> <div> <span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span> </div> </body></html>
