To add a little detail to Keith's reply, re your 1 km walk when you return by the same route: if you are still birding on the return journey, then you would report one km. distance (this is the length of trail covered), 60 minutes time, and all the birds found. You can think of it as reporting all the birds that you saw in that area, in the 60 minutes that you were birding there. But if you're not birding on the way back, just walking briskly and ignoring bird calls that you hear etc., then it's appropriate to report only the 30 minute outward trip on eBird. I hope this helps. cheers, Susann Myers On 04/11/18 08:03 AM, NancyDowd <nancypdowd@gmail.com> wrote: > > When the list is logged as Travelling I do one way lists i.e. a 1km walk one way that took 30min would be the entered distance and time. I do a separate tally for the way back (another 1 km and 30min list) and usually only submit one. Is this correct when you are walking along a road or path one way and returning along the same route? > > Were this a loop circuit the distance time would be logged as 2km and 1hr? > > Nancy > --Boundary_(ID_+uHBsdbbHvDedSJt1zEaBA) Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable Content-disposition: inline =3Cdiv=3EGreetings=2C Nancy=2E=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cbr= /=3E=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3ETo add a little detail to Keith=27s rep= ly=2C re your 1 km walk when you return by the same route=3A if you are = still birding on the return journey=2C then you would report one km=2E d= istance (this is the length of trail covered)=2C 60 minutes time=2C and = all the birds found=2E=A0 You can think of it as reporting all the birds= that you saw in that area=2C in the 60 minutes that you were birding th= ere=2E=A0 But if you=27re not birding on the way back=2C just walking br= iskly and ignoring bird calls that you hear etc=2E=2C then it=27s approp= riate to report only the 30 minute outward trip on eBird=2E=3C/div=3E=3C= div=3E=3Cdiv =3E=3Cbr/=3E=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3EI hope this helps=2E= =3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv =3E=3Cbr/=3E=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3Echeers= =2C=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3ESusann Myers=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E= =3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv =3E=3Cbr= /=3E=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cbr /=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3Cdiv=3E=3C= div=3E=3Cbr /=3E=3Cspan=3EOn 04/11/18 08=3A03 AM=2C =3Cb class=3D=22name= =22=3ENancyDowd =3C/b=3E =26lt=3Bnancypdowd=40gmail=2Ecom=26gt=3B wrote=3A= =3C/span=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/div=3E=3C= blockquote cite=3D=22mid=3AA182EE26-2243-439B-A95A-5FE8779BF898=40gmail=2E= com=22 class=3D=22iwcQuote=22 style=3D=22border-left=3A 1px solid =2300F= =3B padding-left=3A 13px=3B margin-left=3A 0=3B=22 type=3D=22cite=22=3E=3C= div class=3D=22mimepart text plain=22=3EWhen the list is logged as Trave= lling I do one way lists i=2Ee=2E a 1km walk one way that took 30min wou= ld be the entered distance and time=2E I do a separate tally for the way= back (another 1 km and 30min list) and usually only submit one=2E Is th= is correct when you are walking along a road or path one way and returni= ng along the same route=3F =3Cbr /=3E=3Cbr /=3EWere this a loop circuit = the distance time would be logged as 2km and 1hr=3F=3Cbr /=3E=3Cbr /=3EN= ancy=3Cbr /=3E=3C/div=3E=3C/blockquote=3E --Boundary_(ID_+uHBsdbbHvDedSJt1zEaBA)--
